OUTFIT: Dear Edith,

Ah, Edith.

If you have been following my blog for a while, you would be no stranger to my dress, Edith. Oh yes, this dress has a name.

She was revealed on my previous blog for the very first time here. Oui, I made the dress using a retro Butterick 6582 paper pattern. It has a 50s silhouette but the paper pattern stated "60's". I reckon it's an early 60s design.

That was my first time attempting to sew a retro dress. I think I probably shed a tear when I put it on for the first time after completing it.

Since then, I have only worn Edith for very special occasions. To be honest, I think I can even remember every one of those occasions. There was this rock 'n' roll dance night, last year's New Year's Eve party, special dates, a trip to Kurri Kurri Nostalgia Festival this year, and my birthday high tea this year.

BUT. BUT. BUT. BUT. BUT...

I have never worn the dress with a petticoat on any of those occasions. What the hell was I thinking?

Peek-a-boo. Wearing: Retro 50s inspired dress made by yours truly; Hell Bunny cotton candy pink petticoat; ASOS shoes
High bun and low bow
Well, to be fair, I didn't own a petticoat back then. I only got this Hell Bunny petticoat this year after getting my first paycheck. And then, I never got the chance to wear it with Edith... until very recently when I went to an Alice in Wonderland themed afternoon tea party!

My Hell Bunny petticoat - a polyester dream
Sure, it was kinda hot under all that layers of polyester in Singapore, and sitting down in public trains and buses was a challenge. But hey, my skirt was practically bursting with a delightful cotton candy pink. Nothing can beat the happiness I get from that.
